Today we went to one of my son’s orchestra concerts and so I thought I would go with a dress. I picked up this one at Old Navy on a whim for a steal without even trying it on. Thank goodness it fits well.

I saw a video tutorial online for creating a shrug/sleeves with a rectangular scarf so I played with it a bit and came up with this variation. The ends tie around the spaghetti straps of the dress. It works pretty well to cover my upper arms if I don’t reach out in front of me. After I took this pic I tucked one end of the sleeve inside the other with a little bit of fashion tape and that worked even better to make a real sleeve that doesn’t fall open. I like how it turned out… what do you think?

The blue satin belt from my LOFT dress isn’t an exact match to the dark blue in the scarf but it’s close enough. The green in the butterfly wing pendant I picked up in a “global art” store Seattle a few years ago is a great match for the scarf. The white sandals I wore mainly because they are low heeled (relatively with the platform) and I am still having a hard time getting around with my bad back so didn’t want to risk it. Hopefully I will be able to wear heels again soon.
